Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) is an additive fabrication technology similar to SLA and other ‘RP’ technologies. The material used in the SLS process is a powder, typically a ‘nylon-like’ material. SLS parts are typically very robust, accurate and able to withstand moderately high temperatures. Although MTI does not run the SLS technology in-house, we are strategically partnered with carefully selected companies that meet MTI’s stringent quality and service requirements. Often MTI will provide additional value to outsourced SLS parts by finishing parts to client specifications or performing other additional processes on the parts. SLS parts are generally built in 0.004” or 0.006” layers and parts as large as 22” x 22” x 30” are able to be built in ‘one piece’. |
